High Idle

For a couple of days now my cars been idling kinda high, right about 1700rpms. Idk why it came like that. Its been pretty happy with mods iv done to it so far. Any idea to what it could be? I have a uneducated guess that it could be something to do with my cai and the past rains. My mods include a injen cai, megan up/hks down pipes, exhaust, ap v2, and thats about it.

It idles high all the time. Its really confusing. And it seems to be eating more gas than usual.

Iv been reading around and it seems that it might actually be the icv. This is what i think happened, driving around in the rain with a cai caused the thingy to get a bit dirty causing the problem. Does that sound plausible? I also been reading up on a diy cleaning of said valve and it recommends that you have a spare gasket just in case the other is shot. Any chance some body has one? I would like to see if somebody has it before i go to the parts department or order online.

This morning I let my car warm up and the problem seems to have gone away. But just to be on the safe side, im going to clean the icv anyway. If any one else plans to do this heres the writeup.

On a side note, my 30K is coming up. How much would it cost to get all the required fluids/materials? Anyone willing to help me out with the service and maybe coilovers? I kinda dont want to go to the dealership or a shop to have it done. I like save money das y.

wasuup elway! i don't know how much it will cost you to buy fluids for your tranny and watsoever. On the otherhand, oil should cost $6-10 if you shop around and that i can help you with along with your coilovers that you yet have to reveal?

^ ECT sensor is going bad on my 1.8L. Surges all the time and CEL occasionally on/off.

I think it's hurting my gas mileage not to mention drives me crazy. How hard is it to change? The book I have says to take it out with a socket. From what I can see, it's so tight in there that I might have to take off the intake plenum?

And about the IACV. Mine went bad for some reason, cleaning it wouldn't do anything. One afternoon after work my car idled just like yours, about 1500-1700 rpm, then the CEL comes on for the IACV. My IACV o-ring gasket was swollen so of course I couldn't re-use it.

I reccomend a new gasket in case you want to clean your IACV.
