^^^Helps you pick which size of tire to get.
You should try to get the widest you can fit without rubbing. Tire type is up to you...you can get the R-Compounds or the close to R-compounds but they'll die in a really quick time.
I, like a bunch of others on this forum, recommend the Bridgestone Potenza RE750.

What up Blake! I am in agreement with you, currently running RE750s 225/45 17. 300 treadwear, quiet, grippy in dry and wet...perfect street tires. As soon as my RE070s wear out from autocross, I'd like to try the RE01Rs for Solo, same 140 treadwear as the RE070s.

Check out the Hankook R-s2 z212 tires or whatever from DiscountTireDirect.com (free shipping) and pretty good prices. Those tires aren't on tirerack.com though.

Bridgestone Potenza Re-01R
I just put about 100 miles on these suckers, and just love em. Treadlife is 180-140, depending on size, but the grip is awesome rain or shine! They are on special 225/45/17 for $125, get em b4 they go back to $175 a piece.

But, I really don't see why you would need all-season in Hawaii.
Never any snow here.
BTW...I wouldn't say the grippier the tire, the noisier in all instances.
I used to run Pirelli P-Zero Rosso, and yes, in that instance, they had great grip and was one of the noisiest tires I've ever ran...
But, I'm running Michelin PS2 on my current setup and they grip so well for non R-compounds and are very quiet.
Just stay away from the Dunlops and the Toyos, from my past experience.
Grip just isn't so great with those.
I used to have Dunlop S9000 and Toyo T1-R... they break grip so easily.
But yea... usually... the grippier they are.. .the less tread life you'll get.

I'm probably going to have to start looking for new tyres, I think that I'm going to go with the set that you just picked up. The Hydroplaning rating is just a bit lower on these tyres than the KDW2's that I'm very much used to but if this one has more grip them

235's would be a problem on a wagon, but probably not a sedan. I need to roll my fenders soon, and raise my suspension. I shaved the sidewalls pretty nasty on the 225's this past week. It's the rears that makes for fitment issues.

Understood. I remember you having those rubbing issues with the rear wheel guards at auto-x that one time. I think my height is ok for now but we'll soon find out with the 235 RR that I'll be running at the next auto-x. That's going to suck ***** if I have to raise it up at all since it's pretty much higher than it was with my Teins.
That reminds me I have to change my rear suspension and dampening settings before Sunday. If you're going to TnT enjoy for me since I won't be there for me but will be there on Sunday
Thanks,
Jon
