well normally the two aren't related but... were you there the whole time they had you car?

If not then they could have took a joy ride in your car and "tested" out the suspension.

your driving style in combination of their test might have broken the speedometer gear in your transmission causing your speedometer read out to be incorrect

this link is for the WRX but i believe there is something similar in the STI.

dude we aren't super mechanics here. the only way to fix it is to find out what is causing it. from the sounds it's probably not something easy. maybe the speed sensor is going bad, maybe you have a short or loose wire, maybe there's roaches eating away at your car. hell idk. figure out what is involved with your problem and work backwards to find the problem. seems electrical so start there. if you don't know and surely nobody here can jut tell you whats wrong take it to a shop and have them check it out. What!? So what Justin, are you the Batman of mechanics? LOL sorry, too much coffee. Okay Hugo, 2 things. Are you getting a CEL? There are a few VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) codes, look for something like P0502 or P0503. If there is no cell, then it could be the guage cluster is screwed up or the speedo gear in the trans is messed up. Both are not very likely, but they won't throw a cell. If anything, swing by Vakamon, and 'll scan your car for codes. It will just take a couple of seconds.
