Question Guys that came back from Iraq/Afghanistan...

What should I buy my friend who is getting shipped over there?

He's a Major or Colonel or something in the National Guard. His party is this Sunday so I wanted to get something useful for him. ****?

Well I didn't go but I know a lot of people who did. First of all if he is a mojor or colonel he is going to get hooked up out there. The officers always get the good ****. No ****, because you are not allowed to have that over there. He will be very limited on what he can take, well maybe not because he is a COL or MAJ. Either way it would be better to mail him some stuff when he gets there than give him stuff he can't take with him. Get him a good book. It will give him something to read on the way there. Ask Pat for more ideas, he's and officer and was over there.

MP3 player, digital camera, or external Hard Drive. I know when I was in Afghanistan and Iraq, I used my MP3 player frequently. I would have liked to have a extrenal HDD, for all the pictures I took with my digital camera while I was over there.

i would say wait for him to get there and ask him what he needs then. i am pretty sure he knows what he wants to bring its the small things he's going to miss and want like candies, foods, etc etc......care packages are always cool cause they always contained something you missed from home but never knew it. well hope this helps and tell your friend to be safe and god bless

yo, I know **** isnt allowed over there, but i sure as hell had an external hard drive full of it when i was there, the most common things were the ipod, mp3, digital cams, or what you can do is send him care packages threwout the year with all his favorites inside, like mochi crunch, cuddle fish, "good magazines".

Be sure to exchange email addresses that way he can give you his APO addy. Maybe Oaf and myself can start Operation Carepackage V.2.0?
