I'm pretty sure I reset it. Disconnecting the ground should do it or do I need to undo the positive also?

Another posibility, my ecu was completely reset. The car didn't have a battery in it for a couple of days, so idk.

depending on the CEL it might be the IACV (idle air control valve) that sits on the intake manifold. if the gasket gets stretched enough (over time this happens) and hops out of the track that it sits in then you'll get a CEL and idle will be all ****ed up. where is it idling at? If the car is cold and you start it the RPMs should be around 1000 and then progressively drop as the car warms up. normal idle will be about 700RPMs. The CEL will come on about a minute after the car has started if the RPMs don't drop.

I say check the code. It's a pretty easy fix but you'll need your car to sit for another day. to fix it if the CEL is actually for the IACV... you'll need to remove two screws that hold the valve on the intake manifold, remove the stretched gasket(replace with new one if possible but doubt they have it locally). Clean inside the IACV with carburetor cleaner (do not scratch the surface in there) and then put a small beed of RTV gasket. Do not let it get all over the place since it's supposed to seal the connection and only meant for that area (the recessed area).

I've been running mine for a while (at least a year or two) like this but I left my car sitting COLD after the RTV for at least 24 hours to fully cure the RTV (follow the directions).

I don't think that the blue T hoses coming off will affect your idle that bad. I've had it come off on my stock engine and it didn't do what you've mentioned.

good luck.

Jon

Just to add to what Jon said, if you choose to replace the IACV gasket and take it off the manifold you need a new gasket everytime. That's one gasket that cannot be re-used.

This was my first thought when I read this...

I didn't touch the iacv and actually had replaced it previously, a couple months ago.

So to reiterate:

On startup, good throttle response but slow drop in rpm after throttle
high idle 1.5-2k rpm

1-2 min after startup, idle drops slightly, AFR's off the charts ( 20+) funny sounds ( misfires? ), shaking, and generally running like complete ****.

The high idle must me linked to it somehow. After I find out what the Cel is hopefully that can help pinpoint the problem.
