You ain't trying unless you're cheating. I brought my wife and 2 kids with me to my appointment, dressed to impress of course. It's not hard just have everything ready for the inspector, be professional and stay out of his way, and of course smiling with a box of manapuas and pork hash won't hurt either lol

4 speeding, i had 2 cams until the one behind me broke (bracket), all 4 times i was "caught going at least 15+ over" so i took video in, showed the judge and i was on my way all charges dropped. Also my cops never came in is that common here?

1 was for running a red (showed it was yellow and turned red as i was past the middle of the intersection.

PEOPLE WHEN YOU GET PULLED OVER, FOR SPEEDING ASK 1 VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION. "MAY I SEE THE GUN (LIEDAR) AND YOUR CERTIFICATION AND ITS CALIBRATION DATE" If you guys decide to get dashcams I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT HAVE GPS / G SENSOR. You can not fight science. The main reason i got the damn thing is because the drivers here suck, and i got in to an accident a little bit ago and its a nightmare dealing with he said she said. If i had a dash cam i could easily prove it was the other drivers fault. So all in all Dashcam FTW

Also if you do get a Dashcam, get 2 memory cards so if something does happen you can swap out cards or else, its going to keep looping and erase what was filmed.... just my 2 cents. And if something does happen remember to be professional, because you are being recorded lol.

Just found this on the DMV site. Just trying to get some things clarified and straightened out before I move there.
HI Military Members & Vehicle Registration
Registration rules are different for members of the military serving in Hawaii, based on whether you are a Hawaii resident stationed in or out of state, or a non-resident stationed in Hawaii.

Out-of-State Military Stationed in Hawaii
Active duty military stationed in Hawaii do not need to register your vehicle in the state, as long as you do not claim residency. You must maintain current registration and auto insurance in your home state.

So does this exempt me from performing any sort of safety inspection or recon? If so this may be a useful source of information for other military bringing over there soobies or other moded cars...

No, it doesn't exempt you from recon. And even though you have out-of-state registration, you'll still need to visit a City Hall office with $5 cash, an MV-50 form (get from your command), proof of insurance, Your out-of-state registration, and of course, your HAWAII state inspection. Then you'll get a nice big huge blue city sticker you'll have to slap on your car.

+1 for the dashcam mention. Was using my gopro just for experimenting with tailgaters. Ordered two dashcams for the purpose mentioned above.

If you hate the system so much, just do like I did and buy a car you don't need to modify.

You want to modify your car? You have to pay to play. You may think it sucks, but you can't do a damn thing about it. So you might as well live with it, or GTFO. Or run for office if you really want change. Everyone can rage about the system, yet no one actively tries to change it...

not sure why i'm even replying back to this. If i wanted a beater to be dd and hate life I would have. But I bought my subie to build because its an investment. So i used my well earned deployment money and started building on it. I have done all the basic requirements already, title, plates, insurance, safety, tint. Eventually soon Ill ship it back no big deal.
