Since Indiana is corn country we have ethonal in almost all of our gas. I have never heard of anyone actually having problems with it, but everyone is always worried about it. I did some googling, and it seems to confirm that it is safe.
Well you figure ethanol is along the same lines as other flamable gasses. As long as it doesn't diminish the octane rating of the petroleum based gasoline (that it's added to) than I say let's go for it! Save the environment and burn some corn!
Shoot...we might as well start using the stuff now since we'll run out of fossil fuel soon.

I dont care, ethonal sounds like crap. How would you like it if I put terds in your gas tank just to make everyone smell them so not so many people would drive. Then we could cut down on polution. What do you think of that.
Many other states use ethanol in their gas. CA and WA are the first two states that I have experience with and have driven many thousands of hard miles in my subaru with no problem.
It's no big deal and has been in use for years. It's not like Hawaii is trying to trying to reinvent the wheel.
I swear hawaii people are so resistant to change, when sometimes it actually benefits them.

naw dude...jus getting a back ground check on this stuff, but hey if it benefits us then im all for it...im sure lots of us here in hawaii see it the same way...thanx for the info tho, a little more reassuring, cause the honda forums are bashing this idea to hell

Everywhere is resistant to change other than hippy communes like San Fran. I think it is good that everyone wants to check this stuff out. We need to keep the government in check., or else well end up driving 150 HP "electric" and "environmentally friendly" STi's.
Ethanol will burn cleaner and is more efficient. It is more effective in keeping injectors clean than all that crap/detergents Shell and Chevron adds to their fuel. The resistance comes mostly from oil distributors/fuel suppliers who rape us in Hawaii. If I could run 100% enthanol, I would, if the price is right. For now, I'm happy w/ mixing my own 96octane.
