email/security ? - explain please.

I received 3 of these in the mail today, and it isn't the first time. Is someone actually able to use my email address to spam? Do they have my password?

Your e-mail is being returned to you because there was a problem with its

No.

Think of it this way, if I knew your street address could I send a letter to someone and write your name and address in the upper left hand corner of the envelope?

It's called "spoofing" and unless you have a virus you're fine.

You're being Spoofed....I have too. Just hope that if you're being spoofed that no one reports one of the spam to your ISP because some ISP's can temporarly shut down net access because of that. I wouldn't worry about it too much though.

There was an email worm/virus that was actually using that in the body and it included an attachment that it wanted you to open (and potentially spread it more).

In this case you are not being spoof, but are the target of the email worm/virus.
