Anyone have their EGT probe
in the uppipe? I know it should be in the manifold, but I already had a bung in the "uppipe" I utilized. I saw 750C today in fourth at WOT.

I had already
wrapped the header, but if I had it to do over, I'd buy aviation
4-inpout gauge and probes. Monitoring one cylinder doesn't mean the others are fine, right Dean?

The probe is actually
at the junction of where cylinders 1 and 3 meet, before being truly in the "uppipe". That's actually only a few inches from the turbo with my header/uppipe. I did wrap the crap out of the header/uppipe, so I'd like to think heat losses are minimal.

Mine is in the manifold where all 4 come together. I decided not to gamble with just 1 or 2 cylinders. I need to do a little better baseline, but I've seen between 1400 - 1450 F on a WOT pull in 2nd and 3rd. On normal cruising I usually see between 1100 - 1200 F.
Since it's stock I don't expect to see anything too high and of course STi EGT temps. are probably different then WRX temps.

i need to do my egt sensor too. i have a vishnu uppipe with an extra bung(he he..... he said bung!). shiv used it for the wideband o2 sensor when he tuned my unichip.
sean is right though, it's not the ideal location.

I don't have an uppipe per say,
but have an uppipe as part of my header. I know the location isn't optimal, but as the bung was where the1-3 cylinder merger point was, I settled for it. As I said before, I had already wrapped my header/uppipe, and didn't want to unwrap/rewrap.

Mines is in the manifold near #3. It's not rare that I run 1500dg F, plus...but not for very long. I understand that 1600 is actually the worry point.
