Alignment woes
Well today I finally got a alignment (after putting it off for half a year
) and the guys at lex brodies diddent know how to adjust camber. He said that Im going to need some cam bolts. Im sure that our cars come with it stock. What I wasent sure about is whether my coilovers maxed out the stock bolts. Anybody had the same issue? After doing what he could do, these are my new specs;
FL: camber -1.6, caster 3.0, toe 0
FR: camber -2.2, caster 3.1, toe 0
RL: camber -2.9, toe .04
RR: camber -1.9, toe .02
grr frustrating, could I go back and have them double check the cam bolts? I just basically payed for a toe adjustment. At least she dosent pull right anymore...

I think you can fix that by getting one of those camber kits made by Ingalls? On a side note, where you been? A bunch of us were at the car show today at Aloha Tower.
dont worry elway, imho toe is your main concern when it comes to alignment, especially if the purpose of the alignment was to save your tires. if your toe is good then you should be fine. Camber can wear a tire on the inside or out to a certain extent, but misaligned toe will cause a more severe tire wear than camber would.
They told me the same thing, and I explained to him what a camber bolt was.
The guy smiled at me and told me he would try again.
I watched him go outside, smoke a cigarette and come back and tell me "No sorry doesn't work"
I guess he thought I was stupid AND blind. Like dude, I can see the lift from here. You didn't even get under the damn car.
But -2.2 on the stock camber bolt is pretty good actually.
If you want to even out your camber, just make sure the arrow on the bolt is facing toward the strut (could be the other way..forget) and that's max'd. But then you have to reset your toe on that side.
I'll guess that the tech probably said "This is within the factory tolerance."
In translation this means, "We no like check um again, brah, 'cause we no get paid too much."
+1 for what J said

^^hmm, maybe there are quite a few cars that come it that do not have a camber ajustment. but in your case it sounds like the jerk wasnt doing his job.
for the record, i would never bring my car to lex brodies. i worked at the queen st one for few months, and i saw a lot of messing around with the exotic cars that came in. for instance, there was an nsx that came in for service, almost every person in the shop hopped in and took it around the block.

Ken at Pacific is the only one whom I trust with alignment. He asks the right questions when setting up the car. Tire wear has not been an issue with my STi, nor any quirks with the handling from my aftermarket springs to my current coilovers when he has done the alignment.

At least she dosent pull right anymore...you might wanna take it back and get it adjusted it sounds like they didnt really know what they were doing, i just got alignment recently from ken at pacific auto, theres no way you couldve run -2.9 camber in the rear without adjustable camber bolts, unless you have aftermarket coilovers with camber plates.
im running about -2.5 camber in the front and about -2.3 camber in the rear with me sitting in the car (dont have the spec sheet with me right now) and i have ingalls adjustable camber bolts in the rear in order to pull off that -2.3 camber.
the front should have camber bolts stock and allows for i think up to -1.5 or something stock cant exactly remember, but if you have aftermarket coilovers it should have camber plates so you can adjust the camber more.

Reid, that sucks,..which Lex Brodies is this at? In town or Pearl City? But yup,..I would go see Ken at Pacific Auto,...they do setups to your likings and can also set it to your preference. Since they, know autocrossers and basically thats what they do, they know their job. I had my friends car setup there with just TEIN springs and oem suspension and it handled great. I gotta get down there to adjust mine sooner or later as its been a while after my coilover install...
