This is my stock plug, PFR6G, after 41k miles. Platinum. Not sure what the Copper model number looks like, but from a few FAQ's that i've read, the NGK website has some serious errors. The exact stock replacements are pretty pricey.
If you can, bring a feeler gauge or spark plug gapper to do a quick check and make sure the plugs you get are not gapped to 0.044", as apparently the stock WRX gap specs are 0.028"-0.03-something". The 0.044" ones are for the 2.5L NA motor, and they can be used but if you were to gap them down to the wrx spec, the top electrode bends in an angle and that isn't the best thing from what i've heard.
I hope this helped.

Wow. Those plugs look like they took a beating and then some. Thx caterpill. How much is the stock replacements anyway? Yeah, I just read up on the gapping thing... the NGKs are 0.03" PFR6G is the stock and the PFR7G is the old step colder. I'll check around parts plus in the weekends...
I just printed out a maintanence checklist from Subaru too...

Hmm.. well i'm not sure exactly, but I think the stock ones were around the ballpark of $10 each? Sorry but I VAGUELY remember the price. Back when I was still in HS, I was about to order some plugs through my teacher, from Redline and I think the total was like $40 or something like that. I could be wrong.
But yeah. Initially, when I saw my plugs, I thought to myself, wow, these look a little nasty. The picture makes it look slightly worse then it is though. I was worried that those were "***** of metal" that I saw, sure signs of detonation, yet through some advice from the forums, the "white & ashy" look of the plugs is completely normal and doesn't indicate any need for colder plugs. After all, i'm only mildly modded with a catless turboback and uppipe.
Well I was told that the electrode wear was fine, but nothing about if they could be run longer. I'm sure they're somewhat fine. Shrug. The gap on the stockers were still good, IIRC they were less then 0.032". I replaced them with Autolite 3923 Copper plugs. Just a FYI, don't cheap out, go NGK. LOL. Personally I don't know what I was thinking when I bought them. But i'm sure NGK is better. Mine came gapped at 0.040"+, and when doing a search, I found some Dodge Dakota owners praising the plug. WTF? Anyway, my idle quality dropped a bit; it doesn't seem rock-solid as it did before. When idling, I get a few hard shakes, and some extra pops from the exhaust note, as if it was very softly mis-firing.
I did have some variation in the look of my stock plugs though. These were the most different ones..

Just a tip: I'd suggest doing the spark plug change on a morning, as the car should be cool. And be careful with the spark plug torque. For me, it was scary, because when I felt that I had torqued the plugs more then enough, the plugs kept moving when I set my torque wrench to ~$14ft-lbs. I guess it was the soft metal gasket on the plug crushing, but sheesh does it give you some shivers.
Anyway. Ugh. I always end up talking a storm.
Hope this was helpful.

^^^ thanks Jeff... I think it's still early to change the fuel filter... according to the manual... I don't have a turbo upgrade like you so I guess it should be okay for now.
I guess I'll be changing and getting these for now:
NGK plugs (platinum ones)
Stoptech SS brakeline
Various tranny and diff fluids
Coolant
Brake fluids(?)
Brake pads (Is Hawk good?)
Oil filter and the usual...
I guess I should put off buying the gauges for this month... hahaha

parts guy said it's like $9
it's actually $9.37...it's located right underneath the throttle, if you look right under the recirculating hose you'll see it....i recently changed mine and had to take off the ic...it's one of those where some people like to run their hoses for their oil catch can, which there are more than one way to hook up catch cans, from the reading that i've been doing...
