It doesn't get out on the streets too much, something always in progress with it.

Doing some maintenance on it now but I'll have back together again by the middle of this week hopefully, i'll shoot a PM when it's done if you want to see/hear/feel how it is.

bringing this thread back from the dead.
instead of starting a new thread. as this thread states that im looking to go external.
im in the beginning process of my build, just recently got tuned through pdx.
current setup cobb sf intake, turboxs tbe, Grimmspeed ebcs, stock vf39 @20psi.
now i plan on going with a bigger turbo possibly a 20g. and thats as big as ill go. i guess the question is, 38mm too small for a 20g? im assuming not. only reason i ask is im gna go external soon before i get the 20g. also found interesting a reverse mount intake setup , worth it or not? i know there are some kits out there that do not require relocation of alt, and ac removal. easy to do with the sti manifold or better to go with the plastic manifold? just want some thoughts on this as well.
thanks

I'd say that's right in the middle honestly depending on what boost target you're shooting for.
I'd assume the medium between low/high boost is, +/-20psi
high boost = 38mm
low boost = 44mm

Now that's from my research and a bunch of threads on Nasioc, but i'm guessing you'll find the same thing I did when researching in the end.
No idea for the reverse mount though, best of luck.

Just go with a 44mm Tial with a grimmspeed up pipe and be happy that you went that route. When I did my tune, I went and overkilled it to compensate for future mods

thanks yeah i was considering it for a while but then i figured since in only gna go with a 20g i might as well just stick with a 38mm. save me about a hundred bucks. ill be running it with my stock turbo for a long while before i can afford the turbo. another reason why. if it really doesnt make any difference at all in going bigger then i might jsut go with a 44.

I'm on a 44mm(MV-R) actually, boosting @ 20psi with a VF39.

When I switch turbo's I'll be going down the 38mm route since my boost target will be 23psi.

As long as you get a true tial, you won't notice a difference between the 38 and 44. I've had both on my car with 4 different sized turbos (all full garrets) so far. I also have a backpressure sensor pumbed in and noticed no difference between the two. If the 44 really increased VE, backpressure would have dropped. The 44 will just take a a few more steps to get the wastegate duty feedback sorted out as when it opens it obviously vents more. If you're doing open road racing, which means you're moving to the mainland, then get 44mv as it will run cooler and will thus less prone to fail. There's no way that would be an issue for an autox or drag car though. I would just look for a good deal and use that to choose.

The EWG won't improve the VE as much as a good equal length header though, especially on a small turbine turbo like the 20g. A good equal length will small primaries will decrease spool and pick up power all over. I'm sure Jarrad would agree. But if you like the sound of the ewg, that's understandable so long as you're aware. I've spent my money on worst things.

+1 on the EL header, the gains are great and spool is quicker. You might want to consider them, I really like the sound too.

I been running 44 tial and EL headers on my car for years. I love it but my EWG dumps back into my downpipe so its not as loud. I never had a problem with boost creep.
