A lot of it for me was the tall 4th gear. It was just way too high for the amount of torque (even above 4000 RPM) and hurt performance quite a bit. This really only mattered for 1/4 mile and occasionally on a road course where I hit over 100, but it still bugged me. Yes, a lot more torque would alleviate this and yeah, the XT is probably better due to the increased torque. I'm going to have to test drive one before I order mine.

I can't find an Aspen White 5MT anywhere in the area, and I have dealers looking for me as well.

Yeah, so I went and bought a black 5MT last night. So far I like it. Mind you, I haven't taken any long road trips yet.

Won't work apparently it's been tried already for a normal WRX. I was at the ProSolo Finale yesterday at the Subaru tent. There was a guy from Subaru Corp there. He said because of the electronics involved with the DCCD no one could get it to work yet. Apparently there have been more than two or three attempts.

Looks like a STI ECU, wiring harness, and some reflashing is in order. The rainy season needs to start so stupid people on those crazy soft tires will start totaling STi's.
