It's much cheaper to just turbo your EJ25 and you'll get the same power output. Unless you will really miss the last 800 RPM before redline, keep the EJ25.

I totally agree. Better throttle response and low end torque. High compression has it's advantages
Hey BAN... you ever feel like we're the only ones responding to most of these questions?

In the end the 2.5 with a Turbo is nice and a smooth ride, but it takes a lot of work and patience to get it there. I have been trying to get my car running smooth for about 2 years now with a LudeSpeed Stage III kit and Link Engine Management. Though I do play with a million different parts.
Where as a WRX engine swap is a short amount of time with no car and then no worries from then on. Easy mods in the future and great reliability. Plus it is smog legal.
If I had to do it again, I am not sure what I would do. I like the low end grunt of the 2.5 but I like the reliability, easy mods and longevity of the WRX.
It is a hard choice, but I have done enough RS-T setups to knwo they can be done correctly and have a great running car. In either case you have to expect to pay 7500. The RS-T will cost you that wether you think it or not, it does. I have done many a kits and they all come out the same price.

skywalker, are you tuning with the link pad? If you have the pc-software and connector for it, how does it compare to using the TECII and TECIII? I am leaning towards getting TECIII before a turbo kit, but if Link is as good then I'll get whatever's convenient.

I am not going to say one is better then the other, as i don't really know, and everyone has there own view on engine management units.
From what I know the Tec II is a little bit of a pain to use, as for the Tec III I do not know.
As for the Link Plus it is very easy to use, plus if you ever have questions you can ask me.
of course I am bias because we sell them.
In any case if you are interested in both I would do some more research on them and see what people think.
Currently I have my car running pretty damn smooth for what i have in it and have been very happy with the Link Plus for daily driving and track use.

I have a MY00 RS with the WRX Swap done by I-Speed. Since MY00 and MY01 have no differences in terms of the engine specs. It will be the same. I will say that the car is fast. The gear ratios help it out a lot. I have been enjoying my car for quite a while and it has been very reliable with no problems what so ever. My car is the white JDM look a like on the I-Speed webpage.
Oh, and your best bet is to have the swap done by the I-Speed guys since they do a very good job on it. The finished product comes out looking like a factory produced car.
