Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Question Starter, Battery, or Engine Troubles?

I Have a 2006 2.5i automatic.

Recently I've been having trouble starting my car. It started about the same when it was forty below outside.

It turns over about two times then starts. sometimes it won't start after two to three turnovers so I turn the key off. wait a second and then try again. 80% of the time it starts right up with no problem. The other 20% of the time it turnsover two or so times but starts.

What is my problem?

Make sure to always leave the car in the ON position for a few seconds before starting the car so that u are priming the fuel pump.

My car doesn't start properly sometimes unless I do that.

No actually my car started the same whether it was cold or warm out. I'm impressed. Kudos Subaru! If I would have waited for a second or two before turning the car over it would have been that much better. Thanks guys.

couldn't tell if u were being sarcastic or not, but did the problem go away after the solution I gave u?

And if it did, it's better to leave it in the ON position about 3-4 seconds instead of 1-2 seconds before starting the car.

Changed my battery from the factory one to a Optimum Red top and this pretty much fixed the problem, still turns over a few times but doesn't sound as sluggish.
