Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Replacing wipers

Hello,

I must say I am a little embarassed asking aout this
in a place that's full of tech/gearheads....but I am stumped.

I need to replace the wipers on my 98 RS
and I can't figure out how to get the old ones off.

The current passenger blade has started to tear
and is squeaking as it wipes so I need to get ths done soon.

I checked the manual and it simply does not look
like what is on my car. Plus, it has instructions for
replacing the only rubber squeegee piece, not the enitre
blade & holder (which I have). The instructions on the blades
(rain-X 21" & 18") have diagrams, but once again,
it doesn't look anything like what's on my car.

I have noticed a little "latch"-type thing at the pivot
point of the arm and the blade/holder. But pushing/pulling it doesn't seem to have any affect. And I don't want to be too forcefull and break something. I figure there must be something
VERY simple that I am overlooking....

SO....if anyone could help me out and guide me through what I
need to do to get the old ones off and get the new ones on,
I'd REALLY appreiate it.

thanks

there should be a tab you have to push in the center of the pivot
point.then pull it off.
lift,pivot,push tab,pull off,and replace.

place and asked the guy therefor some help.... he did it just like you decribed...

I WAS pressing the tab and trying ALL KINDS of ways to get that sucker off...but with no success...he made it look SOOOOO simple & easy....which it IS....but for some reason it just would NOT
come off for me....oh well...problem solved...thanks again for
your help!!
