Hello all,

I have a 1998 Legacy Wagon 2.5 with a REALLY strange electrical problem I am trying to sort out.

This is what happens: It gets a little HOT here in the Summer (101-115) F. If I leave the car out in the sun for an hour or two (usually garaged) the windshield wipers will spontaneously turn on at their low speed.

Here's the odd part: they will NOT turn off! The switch on the control stick is totally ignored. If I turn the car off for 5 min they will stay off for about 10 mins, and then turn back on again! Once they are on they will run until the car is cool again.

WTF do I even START with this strange problem? I have approached two dealers here in town about it, and they just looked at me like I was crazy. ANY suggestions would be appreciated!

You should also post this on the "other" board. There're a lot more Legacy people on there and they're usually quite helpful. I can't offer any other suggestions, sorry

Thanks for your input -- yes, that's my instinct also, that the heat is somehow forcing a short in a switch. I'm just dreading having to dig under the dash and pull that wiring out

Which "other" board are you referring to?
