windshield wipers
I need some help on troubleshooting a wiper motor problem on a 98 Impreza.
The blades swing until they hit the frame then return and don't change direction until they actually make contact with the window frame.
The splines are not stripped, anything else to check?
Thanks.

where are the blades sitting on your window when they are not on? if they look a little bit higher than they should be or if they could be moved down a bit, then just loosen the bolt that holds them on and move the initial start position, this should keep them from hitting the windsheild frame.
this is just assuming they are misaligned and there isn't a problem with the motor

Wiggle the base of the wiper arms and check for excessive play, and hold both arms by the base and wiggle, possible that the linkage is is messed up or the motor may have worked it self loose. Thats all I can think of right now. If I come up with anything else Ill let you know.
me too!
Hey, I'm have the same prob with my '98! Dealer said it was due to "links" going bad and wanted over $200 to repair. That nuts! I'll try what you guys have suggested and see how it goes. Keep us posted if you figure out something. Thanks! AWD4Life!
