Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

it is the same method on a 2000 as on a 1999. it wont do anything to your car except add a little bit of noise at WOT and flow a little more air, completly safe, and fool-proof. well, unless you remove the filter thinking its the silencer, but then you shouldnt really be working on cars

There is no intake silencer on a MY00/01. That's why I asked. Time to make your own intake. Pull all the tubing off from airbox (the blue arrow). Goto home depot and grab some dryer ducting and a hose clamp. Slip it over the outlet from the airbox and run it into the fender. It might not look the best, but trust me it works.

Shouldn't cost you more than $5. Less if you use duct tape like I did. You forgot girlfriend payments. I'm surprised you can afford a car.

The dryer duct intake is as effective as almost any method. If you are concerned about it not being pretty, you can always replace it later with a $55 PDM intake (under Subaru Corner at www.pdm-racing.com ). Mechanically, it is the same as a Ganzflow/PDM style intake to follow JC's advice.
