Removing my Air silencer

I have heard that removing my air silencer/ airbox will give me performance gains. Can anyone tell me how to remove it and is there anything special I have to do to make the engine run ok. ???

gains? doubtful. if anything youll just hear the turbo more. check out www.scoobymods.com theyll tell you everything you need to know. gluck

Engine will run fine without it. Just makes the car sound a little better.

You definately won't feel any gains, but the extra noises might trick your mind into thinking you're going faster!

Instead of chopping my air silencer up I drilled 20 holes into it.

alot of people...

remove the silancer and run some sort of piping from the filter box to the front fender, for a DIY induction.....this is a great DIY mod!

Intake Silencer

I have a 2000 wrx, i was just wondering does it have an intake silencer an if it does how do i remove it??

If you do a search on nasioc.com there is a thread in which Shiv dynoed a hacked silencer and it lost hp.

actually, what lost HP was the K&N Filter... a whopping 0.5

according to my butt dyno the k&n filter made the car feel like it lost some torque. but it may have been all in my mind because i was expecting some losses after reading it.
i heard that the silencer actually did lose some hp too. but then again i may have been mistaken
