Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Arrow Projects for N/A Power

This is going to be my official Thread for all of my N/A projects and mods... I don’t want anyone posting any “Info or Questions” that entail, "Engine Swaps, Turbo’s, etc." This will be a place for Learning and spreading Knowledge of what, when, where, how, yada, yada, yada, to make your N/A cars Fast and Cool... I want to see what other people are doing with there N/A cars as well.

__________________________________________________ ______________

I have started my N/A project with Header upgrades. We (Cody Loveland-LoveFab and I) Will have a few series of headers, some for SOHC and some for DOHC engine models. For info on LoveFab visit - www.lovefab.com

We started with a Race Header for MY98 2.2l. We should have made this set of headers last, but we just had to see how much power gain we could get by removing all the CAT’s... (I will get a Dyno done on all of my working Headers)

Here are the Pictures from this first project.

__________________________________________________ _____________

I still need to get some sound Bytes together. This header sounds sooo sweeet... It puts some Muscle Cars to Shame... Unfortunately this is a Subaru and probably shouldn’t sound like your in a 5.0 V8 Mustang when approaching other cars, but some of you might be into that kinda thing. (Kinda Kinky) Lets just say that you probably wont meet to many people that have a car that sounds this mean.

For those of you that like it quiet, I do know that a silencer insert for the muffler can help with this problem. I tested mine and its like a whole new car, kinda stealthy even. I will have Cody design a few Inserts for those of you looking to quiet your cars with your existing mufflers...

This header did give me major power gains, more than I had expected. )Like I said above, I will get a Dyno test to show exactly what I mean.) I will also try to get a video or two to show how fast I take off at the line. It's the first time I've ever been pushed back in my seat with this car.

My next Project will be the Headers that are similar to the Borlas, in that they allow to use your own High Flow Center CAT’s or the Stock Suby CAT’s... There will be Two models. One will be for the SOHC and the other will be DOHC. We will also make the rest of the exhaust system to go with these headers.
__________________________________________________ _______________

I’m no expert when it comes to Subaru’s or Mods. I have a zillion or more questions to ask and a zillion and one ideas for making more power... I have learned a lot just by being a member here at i-Club and reading the forums and plan to make you guys my Suby Family... “The more I learn, the Faster I will become... : p”

If you have any questions of the ongoing Projects, don’t be afraid to ask. Cody is planning on registering as an i-Club member and will also be viewing this thread to help answer any of your questions that I can’t.
__________________________________________________ _______________

Just an FYI. At the moment all of these projects are in a Prototype Stage. I won’t be selling anything until I know they work... (This means, no CEL problems and no Explosions.) I along with Cody will register as Vendor’s before we do sell anything.

Also I want you all to understand that this thread is for seeing other peoples Ideas, "not just mine..."

Ummm... this entire forum is about non-turbo tuning... not sure why you want it restricted to this thread. By all means you could post up your own projects and discoveries here though.

Also, please make sure Cody contacts Alex about vendor status before trying to sell products. The headers do look good, you should be able to get buyers easily. Good luck.

I Don't want to restrict to this tread, I've just been asked to make this thread only N/A as my other Project thread seemed to get some good response from the N/A members..

By all means, use other threads... : ) How else will anyone learn if not through all of the N/A threads... I was just trying to keep this one clean... : )

Cody and I will go through all the proper procedures when we do decide to sell anything. Neither of us plan on selling anything until we are Vendors...

Heck, I might as well get registered as a vendor now...

Edit: Sent Alex an email to get me registered correctly. : )

Read the stickies in the For sale by Vendors forum to get all the info you need to submit to become vendors. Sorry abbout the tone of my other post. I know how it feels to watch a well-intended thread get hijacked. I'll help you keep this one in line if you want.

I hope that made a difference! Geez, not quite what I was expecting (now that I think of it, I don't know what I was expecting)... Nice job on the design/fabrication- I hope to see more designs soon!

It probably makes no sense, but I think one that increased low end torque'd be cool. I may be wrong, but I think adding the low end would make it feel more sporty which'd be cool, but I don't know about the logistics of it. Looks nice tho

Not a problem bud, I did kinda word it weird above... That would be cool if you helped keep this a little clean... : )

Scoobsport98, I'll have the one your looking for soon... : ) I was supposed to make those first, but we couldn't resist the temptation to do the full out Race headers...

Stock cats, not a problem. In the next test set we'll be starting with the stock cats and the stock catback. We will then change the catback and see how much power we get still using the stock cats. Then of course we will change the stock cats...

Sounds good... I'll be getting my own cat-back installed later this week- all 2 1/4" with a straight-thru dual-tip muffler, pondering a resonator- I'm looking for a deep, sporty, but subtle tone- Would anyone out these recommend using a resonator? Or possibly 2 1/2" piping? What has the most effect on sound?

After this, I'll know how much further I'd like to go. Will these headers run into the same problem as the Borlas when running stock cats (high-flows cost mad-flow ?), or will these be beefier and more resistant to cracks (near the flanges is where I've read of most)?

I'm very interested to see the power numbers with the cats/ no cats
catback/no catback setups- should produce a very neat and clean explaination as to what makes the biggest difference- keep up the good work!

Cody swears that these won't crack, but thats why I'm testing them, to see if he's wrong... : )

Are you looking for a louder sound or quieter? If you want louder, don't do the resonator and definitely use the 2.5"...

The set up I have now starts at 2", then 2.25" then 2.5" all on the Header, then it goes to 3" to a 4" resonator then 3" to the Muffler and a 4.5" tip... "Sounds like Godzilla" : p

 race headers... :/drool: how much will the headers run for and will cody design any headers for the EJ25? By the way...the increase of size from 2" to 2.25" to 2.50" sounds like a intresting idea.

Just so everyone knows, Tinker219 is Cody... : p

I'll have prices for parts as soon as I get my Vendor Bump... I want to do things correctly here.

I plan on working with Cody to make header sets and other performance parts for all EJ sizes, from EJ18 - EJ25... Early models to 2001... I want to wait until I have a 2002+ before I attempt to make those parts, but keep checking back here as I might find someone in my local town that will let me use their Suby as a Guinea Pig for those parts...

P.S. Cody(Tinker219) will stop by now and then to answer your questions and I'll also let Cody know if any of you post questions directed to him so they may get answered in a timely manner...
