the exterior is totally different, and some interior things, engine, tranny and basic layout of the car are the same though, 05 they went back to mass air and now they have a electronic throttle

I'm not real sure, but I believe the 04 has rear disk brakes instead of drums and a standard limited slip differential in the rear.
I have an 04 and really like it. I've already added lots of parts from other Subarus:
WRX sedan - 20mm rear sway bar
Ver. 6 JDM Sti - front four-pot brakes
H6 Legacy - rear brake upgrade (bigger rotors and brackets)
Rear cupholder - Forester
Lots and lots of potential.

Will it fit a 2003 Outback impreza?
>Thanks for the replies guys. I drove my buddy's 2004 home from the snow and it felt a little different. Couldn't pin point what it was.

Was the 20MM rear sway bar easy to install? Any modifications needed to make it fit?
