have an 03 2.5rs with only 2800miles aprox.having clutch chatter when the vehicle is cold.makes the car buck and jerk.subaru has a redesigned clutch disc,throwout bearing and pressure plate.i get to have it installed under warranty.same deal with the wrx's also.

 

My 02 does this also, just give it more gas and let out the clutch slowly. I'm not taking mine in for a replacement, I'm just going to put in a Clutchmasters Clutch and Exedy Flywheel.

 

My '00 RS does the same thing. It's a well-known problem that Subaru has acknowledged and is refusing to fix. This is my last Subaru.

 

subaru just released this clutch fix this year.i get a redesigned pressure plate,clutch disc,throw out bearing,and flywheel---parts have been ordered

 

WHy not just buy a good clutch and get it over with?

 

yeah and break the gears in the trans,no thanks,all u people putting ceramic pressure plates w disc are nuts.just waiting for trouble.the gears aren't made for that.maybe if i had an sti trans that would be a diferent story.anyway the reason for the chatter is the clutch disc leaves a resin on the flywheel when cold.youre burning off the resin when the clutch chatters

 

My clutch does this at the EXACT same stop sign EVERY morning. It's annoying but I've come to accept it as another one of those eccentricities of Subarus
