Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

2001 RS - Fuel Light coming on randomly

For some reason, my fuel light comes on occasionally when I have around 1/4 of a tank of gas - even sometimes when it's between 1/4 and 1/2. It comes on for a sec, and then goes off. Usually when I have about 1/4 of a tank - it comes on at startup, and then turns off in a couple minutes. Is this normal?

I've never had that happen on either of my RS's. Altho, this morning my gas light went on when I parked at work. Yes it's that low! I'm scared to move it again. I've never seen the gas light come on... EVER!

cheers

I usually have 2.25-2.5 gallons left when my light comes on. never run it dry (biggest fillup was 15.4 galons) but my mileage is REALLY consistent and I just did the math to figure it out.

Anyways, sounds like your sender is on the fritz. :-\ Moderately expensive part but not difficult to replace yourself if it goes out totally. The light coming on when it shouldn't is better than not coming on at all anyway.

Ugh - oh well, I will keep an eye on it. Yeah, definitely better to have it weird than not have it at all. Like siblings sometimes.

Thanks,

Jacob

try putting that fuel additive stuff (octane booster) in there and see if it still happens.
