Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

2.2 top speed

I have a 2000 L sport wagon with a cat-back off ebay, custom intake, and modded fuel injectors. unfortunately even with mods the car still tops out at 112.

I also tried taking my mom's (stock) '01 forester out and that topped out at 112 too.

Stupid Limiter :-(

i have a 98 L 2.2 litre and it hits an acceleration wall at around 110 mph, it definately can go faster than that, its not drag limited, its programmed, i live at sea level so theres plenty of dense air , once it reaches about 110 it just bounces off the limiter, but the RS doesnt have a limiter (i think) so it will reach its drag limit, a friend with a near stock 99 RS got to about 128 with me and another person in the car, i bet it'd get to 130+ with just him driving

LOL, I can't believe this thread is still going! I am the one who originally posted this topic and since I have traded in my 99 impreza on an 03 wrx. Good decision. I no longer need to worry about the speed limiter at 110 mph lol.

No 1.8s, usdm or not, had speed limiters. Some of the 2.2s didn't either, just after a certain year. My friend said he had his 1.8 up to 125, but I'm skeptical of both of you. Maybe on a cold day with a fierce tailwind down an absolutely straight hill at least 10 miles long.
