I have an '01 RS, i was driving down the road today, 40mph in 3rd, my motor lost power all of the sudden, regained, lost again and began to make this horrible noise eminating from the drivers side. I stopped, and started it again, still happening, I drove to my house a 1/4 mile away, once on the way the noise reduced to a slight chatter, then resumed and wont stop. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the help!

 

What does it sound like? Clanking, banging, popping, sputtering???

Edit: Can't Spell : p...

 

Its sounds like a metal clanking on metal every revolution of the motor
