Just put everything on get a conservative tune to make it safer and increase drivability and call it a day while you save up for a shortblock build

I don't believe the problem has been fixed. I still see much more instances of ringland failure in 09+ cars than in pre-07 cars. Even cars that have been running a Cobb OTS map or various tuner's custom tunes since nearly day one seem to have the potential for ringland failures. It's basically a crap shoot. If you get lucky and happen to get 4 well cast pistons your engine will hold up to good power and last a long time. If you get unlucky, however, a few knock events from bad gas or heat soak can take out a ringland with very low mileage no matter what mods or tune you're running.

So its just not the AVCS adjustments not going smoothly. It seems like its only with 257s but do you see any 255s having the same issues?
Well driving it like that is just asking for other things to be taken out with it. Just because its a conservative tune doesn't mean you cant drive it hard. I'm on a very conservative one so my MPG isnt the best but its providing more than enough power.

It has nothing to do with AVCS at all and yes, EJ255's suffer from the same issue. I have found that more 255's tend to make it to higher mileage but I believe that's because they tend to run smaller turbo's, less power, and are not driven as aggressively on average as 257's.

I had Ed tune my car and I wanted to only run 20 psi for now until I build the motor this summer. We hit 350whp with the following mods: APS 725fmic, Walbro 255, Hallman MBC, HKS turbo back exhaust, Helix downpipe, ATP GT35 w EWG setup tial 44mm wastegate, DW1100cc injectors, Cobb intake, Cobb accessport V2, ACT HD clutch, Fidanza flywheel, Cobb short throw, GFB alt pulley, Gates alt belt, cold step spark plugs, HKS bov. We are hoping to hit 850whp after the build this summer.

. No motors are bullet proof until they're built up well.
