sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead but is it ok to install the oil cooler with the inlet/outlets facing down? Some say that might trap air in the system but i'm not sure.

My Process West setup was tapped on the bottom of the sandwich adapter. I used 90 degree fittings to get back to the horizontal run to the cooler. The system is pressurized so you should not have any issues. Of course, not all of the oil drains back to the pan so it's good to disconnect the cooler lines every couple of oil changes and drain them manually.

Is there a "relay" for when you're driving in cold weather that will prevent the oil from over-cooling. This would be a great addition to my car as it gets hot as hell in Louisiana in the summer but I often drive up to Maryland in the winter time. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Also, rest assured anything from Process West will be of great quality. I saw a guy in Newark with a V-mount intercooler made my them and it got me all hot and bothered. Too bad he could have bought a beater car for the price of the thing.

Silly boy, I live in Kalifornia.

I never needed one on my STi, because of the whole Kalifornia thing, plus the car was not a daily driver. For those in cold climates, you could simply add a thermostat into the system at the sandwich adapter. It's not an option form Process West, but could be built for very little money.

While I have no idea what the cold performance is like, I can tell you that the oil cooler dropped my on track oil temps significantly. Depending on the air temp for the day, I could see a 30-40 degree drop in oil temp from other STi's on the same track that day.

That's what I'm looking for. Mine isn't daily driven anymore either but even on the occasions it is it's so hot in the summer. Louisiana is unlike most places where it's not uncommon to walk out of the house at 6am and it's already 90 degrees.

You could just run a inline thermostat from earl's or get a sandwich plate with the thermostat built in. I'm going with a mocal sandwich plate so that I don't have to spend extra time waiting for the engine to warm up.
