Oil Cooler and Tranny Cooler
Hi all,
I am getting an Oil Cooler, after I installed the FP Red my oil temps jumped from 210 to 230 under hard driving. I think that an oil cooler will drop it into the low 200's again.
Question for you all, does anyone run with a tranny oil cooler? Has anyone had any thermo induced transmission failures?
I am driving an 05 STI with the following mods:
Full race exhaust - headers, up, down pipes, 3" exhaust.
Fuel System - 816 cc injectors, walbro 255 l/hr, fuel rails, fuel pressure reg (43 psi), stainless lines.
Perrin Big MAF intake, Perrin FMIC, FP Red Turbo
Tein Flex with EDFC.
Currently running ECU-Tek reflash map with 93 octane, netting 360 whp and 338 ftlbs torque.
I am trying to get this car to be top notch at the track.

I would not worry about tranny cooler unless your car sees some serios track time. And by serious, I mean like enduro type of stuff. Oil ooler is a great idea and I recommend the TRUST unit.

That seams to be the general consensus. Interesting though that the STI Spec C has both an Oil and Tranny cooler in the stock car. In the USDM STI, there is a oil line poised for the cooler but they just didn't include it!
