Question oil cooler

Do you have to relocate the oil filter to add one? I have a spacer with 2 3/8"
inlet and outlets. My question is do I have to relocate the oil filter to use it? ie. above or below the cooler itself? Thanks in advance.

My question is does it matter if the oil cooler itself is above or below the oil filter?

No, the Process west oil coolers for example, place a adaptor between the oil filter and the engine block, then it had two lines that run up to the cooling core, one is the supply for the cooler, then the other is the return. The new process west oil coolers even have gauge ports on the sandwich adaptor, so you can hook up your oil temp and or pressure gauge.

It does not matter where you put the core, the pressure of the system will push the oil anywhere you place the core.

Is there anyway to purchase just the cooler posted above without the rest of the kit seeing as I already have an adapter, and stainless hoses? Thanks for the reply.

05aspenrex- Im sorry the kits only come as a whole. Best bet would be to just buy a core. You can get them from any big Race store. Summit jegs ect..
Thanks

Rick, doesn't the core have to be higher than the filter in order for the oil to drain back properly? I would be worried about oil staying in the core during an oil change and then putting in too much oil when I fill back up.

BTW, I have the process west setup and it works great. It was a perfect fit and rather simple installation.

I have some pics in the computer at home and I'll dig them up.

This pic will have to do for now. I bought the black version for stealth. It is mounted behind the STi badge.
