next mod is dp

well i have an 06 wrx with borola hush cat back, perrin drop in air filter, hks bov. im getting a cobb ap put in to day with a pro tune. next thing i want to do is get down pipe. im going to get a crucial dp. what i was wandering is if i should get a catless one or catted. i have the bov and im not going to take it off. if i get a catted dp im afraid im going to ruin the cat by running rich. but i dont want to get a catless because i hear the 06 has boost creep with catless setups.

my question is if i get the catted and a tune will it make it so i wont run rich with the bov so i dont ruin the cat, or if i get the catless is there a tune i can get to eliminate boost creep.

finnaly... i dont e ven know what boost creep is. can some one explain it.

thanks

As far as emission in california, get a catted DP (it will help prevent boost spike)...you can only go one way man, either remove the blow off valve to prevent runing rich. This is my suggestion, flash to stage 1, drive it for a week then your ecu will learn ur habits of driving once you get your downpipe (do not run ur DP with STAGE 1!) then reflash to stage 2 then Get it protune, becuase you wanna get it tuned with all your parts together to give you the best optimum performance of your car! (plus is saves you time) about boost creep...i heard wen your boost is uncontrollable, not sure.

boost creep/boost spike: you gotta know how turbo works.

On the 06+ WRX there are boost spike or creep issues in all cases with the use of an aftermarket downpipe or turboback. This is because the 2.5L engine pushes so much air. Even with the internal wastegate fully open not enough air can exit to stop spinning the turbo, the result is boost creep or boost spike. With the 06+ WRX, unlike the STi, you cannot fix the problem by just porting the stock turbo wastegate. We suggest porting the stock turbo wastegate AND getting an engine management system to help fix the issue like a UTEC or AccessPORT. With the added costs this will entail 06+ WRX owners may want to consider waiting to get an aftermarket downpipe or turboback after they have upgraded there turbochargers or they may want to consider getting a cat-back exhaust only.

Nice meeting ya at UCKK last night. (Great color choice, BTW.)

I'd get the protune after installing the high-flow, catted DP and flashing to Stage 2.

I don't have any info on the BOV.
