New owner and I have a few concerns/?'s

So I just got my STi a few weeks ago and some thngs are bothering me. Some friends of mine have STi's and they dont seem to have the same "issues" and I do with mine.

Ok, first off, I will give you a little background on the car.

2004 STi
Cobb AP stage 2
Cobb Downpipe
Blitz Nurspec Exhaust
Hardened Engine mounts and pitch mount
Whiteline Rack bushings
Strut bars
Shifter bushings with KB Short shifter

Ok, heres what is bothering me. Since I have had the car the turbo has been making some wierd noise. It sound more like a sopercharger then a turbo. Under load is the only time you can hear it. I noticed that the banjo bolt for the oil line on the top of the turbo is leaking a little. Im concerned that the shaft has negative wear and its almost done for. I believe that the car had a bigger turbo on it originally but I cant figure it out.

The other thing is that the front suspension sounds wierd going over bumps in the road. It sounds like something is loose or is bending and poping back into place. Like a metal clunk sound. Im thinking either a bolt is loose or the bushings on the rack are causing this, but I wouldnt think the bushings would cause this. Oh, and everything is stock except the bushings on suspension.

Thanks for the help and suggestions... Im probibly going to swap out the turbo with another stocker for now. See if that helps with the sound. Im planning on getting the car on a rack to see if there is anything loose on the suspension this weekend to. But I would still like some info if possible

Thanks again

Paul

If your stock turbo has a light supercharger "whine" than your trubo is
fine.If the stock turbo is leaking amounts of oil than it is possible that
your stock trubo is ruined and should be replaced very soon.If it were
me I wouldn't drive it until you get a replacement turbo.
If this is the case after changing your stock turbo also do a engine oil change
at the same time.
I think your bushings could very well be causing your noises from your suspension.
Subaru's are rough riding on bump though. Good luck .

Just as an update to the post. The whole problem was a faulty gasket on the uppipe. The sound was the air escaping out of a crack in the gasket. Was I a pissed off person. The guy that I got the car from has a Forster as well that is modded. He had a set of aftermarket headers on the STi and then swapped them to the Forster. Boy was I pissed! I should have knowndue to the lack of heatshields and heatwrap on the headers.
