Vf34 or VF32? and other concerns/questions

well i have searched and read every thread on the Vf34 and Vf22, and i still have a few questions

I will be running a full turbo back on my exhaust with coob tunings's access port, and than i will be getting the turbo, injectors, and fuel pump, stock intercooler until my bidget will let me do otherwise, (im 17)

i have seen the pros and cons about both turbos but here are some of my questions.

1)people say that the Vf22 spools up slower but how many rpms slower? Will the top end out weigh the slow spooling? I like racing from a roll just because its easier on my car, but i also drive all week in the city, and highways on the weekends.

2) are they reliable? which one is more reliable and how much? i read that the Vf34 was more reliable due to its newer design but i only read that in 1 post so im not sure.

3) how much boost should i run? will the ability to hold extra PSI with the Vf22 even help since i will be running stock intercooler for a while and stock internals?

4) what kind of WHP can i expect from each set up, id like to see 300 whp dont know if that will happen though.

im typing this twice cause i need to make sure about it on how much boost i should run for each one, i want reliable but good horsepower gains LO (who doesnt? )

thanks to everyone that replies also if anyone knows of just a web page where i can read all up on these turbos it would be great, i love to learn about this kinda stuff.

That's not true. Not always will VF22 spool slower than EVEN your STOCK turbine. It all depends on other components and most importantly tuning.

Below is a dynosheet of my car back from May 2001. Back then I had VF22, uppipe, IC hoses, CUSCO downpipe and SYMS exhaust. For tuning I was using MBC and TEC II. Tuned by Shiv@VISHNU, of course.

Don't look at the numbers, but look at the shape of the stock vs. VF22 graphs. They are nearly identical. The number are generally low, because that was done on the Dynapack dyno and they were still getting used to it. That was for the SCC magazine. October 2001 issue.

VF22's tend to go bad. The turbine-2-compressor combo makes it last very short time, I heard. My VF22 went out after about 10k miles. I sent it to Turbo Specialties (Turborepair.com) back in November 2001 and I am yet to get it back from them. Oh well. It is a good turbo and they are cheap. Even if it goes bad sooner than VF34, at half the price, it is worth it, if you ask me. Not all of them go bad. I think it has to do with the boost levels. I ran pretty high boost few times and that might have been the cause of premature failure.

I would not go over 19 psi.

If you look at the dynosheet, I made 150whp stock and 225whp w/ VF22. So, it is not 100% correct, but you can assume that I made %50 more power. That should exlplain it all.

Hope this helps.

I did not get VF34. I went with a GReddy T67 turbo, which is the size of my head.

But, VF34 was my second choice.
