motor removal problem

motor removal problem

has anyone had this happen to them before?
just got everything unbolted between the engine and transmission but i cant seen to get the engine to come free. i have a bad feeling that the two aluminum surfaces have coroded onto each other, anyone know a good trick to pull them apart?

You should be able to split them apart. Are you sure all the bolts are out? There should be 6 bolts and 2 nuts.

Also, is the engine raised and the engine mounts removed?

yep the 6 bolts are out and the 2 nuts are removed however i unbolted the lower motor mount nuts but i did not remove the motor mounts.... ill see what i can fo with it friday.. thanks for the reply

Imprezer's most likely done this oodles more than I have, but I didn't find that I needed to remove the engine mounts.

The only 'trick' I'd tell you is to vary the tranny angle vs engine angle. You have to raise the transmission separate from the engine. I had luck in starting with the trans being higher than the engine, then I raised the engine a little at a time.

Sorry. By remove, I meant that the engine has to be lifted OFF the crossmember so that the engine mount studs would not get stuck there.

Well like u are saying that you removed all the nuts from the motor 2 the trany u gonna have to remove your shift fork assemebly. Get an the 10mm hex to removed the plug then an 8mm screw so u can pull it out once u do this your motor should come out no problem.
