Is a Honda motor better than an sti 2.5 motor?
Is a Honda motor better than an sti 2.5 motor?? My coworker thinks so, he thinks that an sti motor is already maxed out and can't produce more power. He says that a honda motor(gsr b18c) is not maxed and can produce more power than an sti motor. Alight people what are your opinion on this?? By the way my co-worker is a honda-boy so he's pro honda on everything...

money and which car it goes in doesn't matter, he just thinks the gsr motor gets more hp.

I had a pretty beefy SOHC in my old civic. It ran mid 14's all motor. Not bad.

Ok...on the subject.
It's a mixed deal.....the B18 is an excellently engineered motor. Will it produce more power is another deal all together.
The B18c5 is one of the best engineered 4 cyl motor ever to be built if you ask me. They run forever and produce quite a bit of power when built and tuned properly...even without forced induction. When I jumped the honda ship I was having a 300hp motor built based on a B18C5.
On the flip side as a turbo motor, the 2.5 liter STI motor and even more so the 2.0 liter S202 motors are great as well. The obviously produce great number for their size and purpose and have tramendous potential for growth.
The B18 remember has been being worked with by tuners and enthusiasts for quite a while now. If you look at the growth of power numbers and quarter mile times in the subaru world with the 2.5 block it's pretty crazy how quick it's gone up.
saying that....different worlds...different motors....both great platforms if you ask me.
Now trannies....that's another store. Honda trannies are down right amazing compared to our chunky units....course they only turn 2 wheels..haaa. or one...haaa
