Is a Honda motor better than an sti 2.5 motor?

you're co worker can't compare apple's to oranges. 2 different engines, 2 different cars.
If he were to compare engines why not against the 3s or the 2zz both yamaha motors? Why bother with subaru?
The honda engines put out lots of power with out a doubt, its torque their missing. If you were to measure it up to a Subaru motor with out a turbo it would walk all over it in terms of HP. But if you think about HP/Tq numbers its a different story.

here's what he said: engine compression ratio is already maxed out on sti 8.1:8 and evo 8.8:8
While the compression on the b18 is 7.4:1 and it's "safe"
