very true-
i sell em and i have one - i suggest to NOT set-up to 50-50 on pavement unless its very slick... i have mine in auto and i have been getting 17-19 mpg with 92 octane.(driving moderately hard)

on a side note the auto is primarily set on 35/65 and only adjusts to other settings if needed. i don't really care for the 35/65 to be set manually- sometimes i like the "clawing" effect of all that 300 lbs. ft of torque hitting that pavement!

ironically subaru has not yet released a chart describing all the settings inbetween. i know that lock is 50/50 and the green at the bottom is 35/65. but i'd like to know just exactly what everything elase inbtween is.

getting back to subject- you are actually getting decent mileage if you are driving normal- those numbers posted on your manufacturers sticker when you bought the car are if anything- magical numbers. my only suggestion is this- adjust your shift patterns. -->picture (scroll down)

Gregg's drawing makes my eyes bleed. So are you suggesting going from 1st to 3rd to 5th?

I find it hard to believe that using that much more gasoline makes the air cleaner, but I am sure studies were done.

I've read that worse gas mileage w/ oxygenated gas in EFI cars is true. The extra O2 in the gas makes the car run lean which is corrected by the comptuer by adding more gas! Supposedly they did this in CA to make older carburated cars runner cleaner, but as a consequence cause the majority of the cars to use more fuel...
