DCCD/ Gas mileage

awd kills gas mileage for example a 5 speed fwd turbo eclipse gets 25 in town/ 32 highway where as the awd gets like 18/ 22, powering all the wheels all the time requires constant throttle it just doesn't coast. O well you get what you pay for (awd)

Don't forget guys, gas mileage is going to increase as your engine gets more and more miles on it.
Nick, how many miles do you have on your STI?? Your car sounds like a mutant!!
The best I've ever done is 265 miles when the light came on.......the pump cut off at 11.6 gallons. BUT that doesn't nessarily mean it was topped off.
I have 6,000miles on my STI

awful noises
In the owners manula it says those noises are normal. 
I still don't like them they make the steering wheel shake.
My best guess is to put it back in auto when parking.

It sounds like you have it in 50/50 mode. Roll the switch all the way to the back so that the very bottom green light is lit.

And although i'm not sure if you can adjust it while moving, i usually do so while sitting still, not one wierd noise in any mode yet.

The grinding sound is turning too tightly with the DCCD in the locked position on dry pavement. Haven't any of you been in a 4x4 Jeep with the diffs locked on dry road trying to go around a corner? The sound happens because all the inner wheels and outer wheels travel at different speeds when going around a corner....this is exaggerated when going around a tight corner...the outer wheels have to travel a larger circle and need to go faster than the inside ones.
Also, it is FINE to adjust the DCCD while moving. I just wouldn't suggest going all the way to locked while in motion unless you are on a surface other than DRY pavement. ex ICE, SNOW, GRAVEL
