How many gallons do you typically get at fill up? you have a 16 gallon tank, so there's nothing wrong with having a 12 or 13 gallon fill-up at the pump, which should give you about 210-230 miles of "normal" driving.

I have also noticed that whatever it is that is unique to the special California Reformulated gas to make it cleaner just destroys Mileage. I tested this on about 6 cars shipped out from the east coast. All of them got about 50% more out of a tank than on the crappy Ca. gas. I find it hard to believe that using that much more gasoline makes the air cleaner, but I am sure studies were done.

the sixth gear on a z28 is bassicly a gas saving highway gear. The sixth gear on an STi is the next go fast ratio after 5th... thus less efficient

Agreed, but what does that to do with my last post? Unless you were referring to my first. It also does not account for the around town mileage.

Just got over 300 miles to the last tank. All highway driving at about 80-85 mph, but it included 95mph for about 1/2 hour.

My light comes on at around 250 miles. Generally I can get high 200's before I start to worry about running out of gas. I drive 10% city 90% highway on an average tank.

GAS MILEAGE

I was lucky to get 22-24 mpg with 90% highway driving in my outback sport manual. It was split 50/50 all the time which is the reason the manual and the automatic which was split 90/10 got the same gas mileage.

I just got my STI and would be estatic with the same mileage. It would make sense the 35/65 would work better but how much is anyones guess.

Let us know when you try it.

Later,
John

I did try it and got better gas mileage in 65/35. Drive like that all the time now.
