It's been debated but never really proven. What is proven is that you can put over 250 hp to the wheels through the stock airbox.

Hey whoosh, if you can show me a dyno plot where a car gained something from a BOV I'll put one back on my STI...All the Blitz did for my car was make it hesatate and stall and some sound thats it, car ran worse and yes I tried adjusting the spring...Honestly unless your running more boost than the stock BOV can handle the stock one works perfect. I was running almost 18lbs on a stock BOV in a GSX Eclipse I had.
