2006 wrx -- boost creep?

I have an 02 wrx with TurboXS turboback exhaust w/highflow cat and standard muffler....Im considering selling it for a TR.

If I do get the TR and I throw on the turboback, I know I'll get boost creep --

My question is, do I need to have the wastegate ported? Or will an Accessport protune fix the issue? Or both? Ive multiple answers and I dont know for sure.

If you have a 2006 wrx with catless downpipe/exhaust, let me know what you did to fix the issue.

Porting should alleviate boost creep issues, but obviously if you can swing it, the AP will get the most out of a TBE.

Matt, boost creep has only been a problem with the vf39, which the TR doesn't use.

I would most defenitely get an AP protune when the exhaust was put on (like ASAP!) Currently I have ecutek on my 02, but I wont be swapping ecus.

I mainly wanted to know, do I need to have the wastegate ported with a protune??

I wouldnt want to do things twice -- like put on the exhuast, have protune, have boost creep issues, then have to take everything off and port the wastegate.

you shouldnt have any problem with boost creep with 06 wrx, just make sure u use the right map for ur AP. on stage 2, the waste gate duty cycle change. it is design for the 3" bellmounth downpipe catted or not (ithink). STI 06 are more likely to get the boost creep if they dont use the right MAP. SO...if u gotta go with Stage 2 which consist of full turbo back system (get a catted downpipe), and AP and most importantly the right MAP upload! YOU SHOULD BE OK.

I had a thread on this recently when I bought my '06 as well. If you can ignore all the crap some people were stating, it has all the answers in it.
