AFAIK, the 2.5L is still 8.0:1 CR (but I could be wrong). The 2.5L produces higher cylinder pressures as rpms increase making the turbo less effiecent compared to the 2.0L at the same rpm. The extra displacement alone was the reason for the increase in torque.

Just the extra 0.5 displacement alone would be enough reason to decrease boost and still keep it near the the EJ205 output. Then you have little TD04 trying to flow more air than it would in the EJ205 also.
