Question $3,500 to spare...

Just wondering what good quality parts and hook up can I get with $3,500 for my 05 sti. My goal is to hit low 12's maybe high 11's, how much more would I need to invest ie... godspeed stage 3 turbo upgrade etc? What you guys recommend?....

Thanks for any input...

If your starting point budget is $3500, a good starting point would be the following upgrades:
-FP Green Turbo
-PE 850cc Injectors
-Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump
-Helix Catless Down-pipe
-Full 3" exhaust system of your choice (Helix SS Catback, HKS Hi-power, Greddy EVO2 to name a few)
-STI UTEC (if you want to have the ability run different maps for different octane levels) or an ECUTEK reflash

These parts alone will be abit over the $3500 budget you have for now. You're going to need save more for porting the turbo (boost creep issue), installation and the all important dyno tuning time required. Also, to maximize horsepower gains, a bigger TMIC or even a FMIC should be considered down the line. Just my $0.02 in.

You even need to mod the aftermarket turbo, too??? I would have hoped that if you're shelling the $$$ out for another turbo, you should just get one that works efficiently right off the shelf.

I'm thinking about getting a slightly better bolt-on turbo for my STi without having to fool around with the fuel system. I'm hoping to get a turbo that will work well without extra modifications.

My mistake, only the stock STI turbo usually needs to be ported due to boost creep issues. FP Greens do not have to be modified.

This is exactly where im tryin to get as far as speed goes as well. So do you suggest the UTEC and ECUTEK over the Vishnu Exede. Any big differences?

If you want mid 12's all you need is a tbe(no cats) and a well tuned utec. That should be around $2500 with the utec tuned. I would then put some money into the suspension. Swaybars and endlinks, some pink springs and whiteline alk and you have one hell of a car. Then you will have the handling to go with the power. Some steel brakes lines and new brake pads and brake fluid would not hert either.
