Wrx stalls sometimes. Any ideas

I drive a 2005 WRX and for as long as i can remember My car will stall every once in a while. Most of the time it happens when slowing down or coming to a stop. For instance i will be in traffic @ 20-25 mph I apply the brakes and then put in the clutch and the RPM's will just fall all the way to 0. I also see occasionally in the same type of situation that the RPM's will to 0 then kick abruptly right up to 1000-1100 and then level back off. I notice rough gear changes too, my RPM's seem to drop really fast when the problems occur. I have had the car looked at but of course it never does it when its in the shop. Any one have any ideas. With and with out my mods the car does the same thing. Does anybody have any ideas? I am stumped. Thanks for the help.

Have Blow Off Valve, checked 02 sensors. Sounds like you are running a little rich between shifts.

I had a Forge BOV on my 04 WRX, after months of driving, my WRX was starting to studder and stall at a complete stop. Turns out, the spring in the Forge BOV broke off. I put back the stock BOV back on, and my WRX is back to normal.

Hope this helps.

dont get a bov for a wrx untill you boost over 19 psi i think it is. and if you do want less preformance and more sound get tuned for it. but at that point you might as well have some other mods on to get your moneys worth. then you would need a aftermarket bov. its sorta like the intake debate, you dont need it till you make gobs of power but it does sound sexy.

It honestly sounds like an Idle Air Controller Valve issue. When you press on the clutch, the RPMs are supposed to drop to a normal idle RPM range and the IACV is supposed to keep up with it. When they are dirty or faulty, this is what happens. It can get bad enough where it will just stall out.
