Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

You could check the exhaust side of the turbo by removing the DP after a long idle. If you see oil in the DP or turbo I would think its the turbo.

Did you fill the overflow with water before you took the pic? The coolant looks very watered down.

BTW, it might not be a bad idea to replace that timing cover. It shouldn't be very hard and it will keep everything in there nice and clean.

I just changes my turbo with one that supposedly has around 30k on it with my turbo that has 101k on it. First of all it didn't have the screw hole of the oil line. So I looked up the #'s and it came up as a mitsubishi turbo, but it fits perfectly. I let my car warm up after it was done and checked everything. I drove the car for less than 10 mins and it started smoking very very heavily from the turbo. It smelled like coolant then it would smell burnt, and off and on. Now if some coolant went down the uppipe when removing, would it smoke like that? I didn't see if it was coming out of the exhaust, but it was definately coming out from beneath the turbo. Any suggestions???

No 'screw hole'? Did you manage to connect the oil line before you started and drove the car?
