What do you think are the best cheap first mods?

for under $100 - I like the 3/16 mod (I paid$10 - it was well worth it though)
I hope you have a boost gauge since you did the 3/16 mod. Some people have reported a boost spike with it. If you dont have a gauge you may want to replace coupling with factory one untill you get one. You may also want to reset ECU after installation. Do a search and type in 3/16 mod and you will see what Im talking about. Also you can get a coupling for under $2 at most autoparts stores.

I second a Cobb Tuning AccessECU reflash.
I just got my stage 2 last week. Lemme tell you, this thing ROCKS    It's more than just a power adder. It makes the car behave like it's supposed to be. SMOOOOOOTH. I don't even want to get started coz I'll just go on.
I guarandamntee you that you will absolutely love it, if not, I will buy it off from you

spikes
I haven't had any problems with spikes. I bought mine from boostkits . It came with a coupler, piece of replacement silicon hose and a clamp. My max boost is 14lbs. I'm not sure what the one from napa looks like. Is it Brass? I don't if the hose does anything either. Is silicon more heat resistant or allow more flow or something like that? I like it- and a couple of my freinds in town bought the same one and they all like it too.
Simp - is it possible that you had a leak or a bad vaccuum hose?
Has anyone installed the PERRIN crank pulley? I am also curious about the ease of installation...

NO on the leak a lot of people have experienced this. More people have taken them out and not many have kept them. Mine would spike to 1.1 hkpa (1hkpa is roughly 1 bar=roughly 14.7 psi I think) which is also around 16 psi. It was most noticeable when my car was cold so I took it out. When it happend I could feel the car shudder. Im not sure how dangerous that is but Ive heard its not good so rather than risk damageing the car I removed it.

my boost usually hangs out around .9 in third and barely touches 1 for a bit - I'll have to watch more carefully - never felt a shudder though? I'm not really worried about it - these motors are pretty strong and I think they like to be driven hard.
I am actually starting to get bored and I think I want more boost and go! I think I might just suck it up and get the UTEC!

I had it in for a couple of months and never noticed it either but that may have been because Im usually pretty easy on it when its cold. Good luck I hope it continues to not cause you any problems.
