What do you think are the best cheap first mods?
Hi, im going to purchase a used 02 WRX here in May or so and i am "planning" my first mods out of pure excitment, it helps the time pass by faster to May
Anyway what do you guys think would be the best *cheap* first mods that would be kinda easy to install? I dont know if i want to do the cat elminating exhaust mods and bov type mods intially... cause warrenty to void or something. But i was thinking a intake, but i dont think i will do that because of some stuff i have been reading, but what about:
Performace:
STOCk intake silencer removal? (not really performance)
Intercooler hoses?
kinda expensive... but maybe the Prodrive axel-back
Sway/strut bars?
Cant really think of any else as far as performace
Looks:
Do you think the stock wheels with dark paint on them looks tacky? I was think about that....
DIY blacked out headlights
Greddy front lip or OEM
Paint stock side skirts
Cant really think of anymore... maybe a blue "i" emblem... but doubt i would do that
Um if you guys can think of some that i am not please help me out! Also keep in mind, even though some of the mods that i might look into dont do much i think it would be beneficial and fun to spend the time installing the parts to gain knowledege to the car and whatever...
thanks for reading

Cobb AccessPort with a stage 1 reflash on your ECU. you can flash back to stock if you ever have to go to the dealer. power gains are proven and reliable, and you will never be harrassed by the cops for that mod because it's invissible.
yes, it's expensive, but probably cheaper than the Prodrive Axleback.

check out http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/for...?s=&forumid=21 but before doing some of these mods do a search on I club to see what people think of them because not all of them are safe.

You will not believe the braking improvement, yes with stock rotors.
The silencer removal does make the car more lively.
A muffler gives the car a different personality, maybe not more performance.
And tire upgrade, but this may be out of the "cheap realm."

MBCs are not cheap. They cost about $3-4k after you blow your motor with one.
Get a reflash instead. Much much safer, and you can't make more power than a good reflash with just a boost controller.

Bansuv, the people with blown motors with a MBC, is that due to the MBC malfunctioning? or just tuning boost up too much?
However i suggest just saving up for a reflash as well.
Why not try to get an uppipe, and downpipe?

How cheap are we talking?
for under $100 - I like the 3/16 mod (I paid$10 - it was well worth it though) - snorkle removal (FREEBIE) - ground kit (homemade $55 but I used really nice stuff)- replacement air panel ($35) -
My next mod---
PERRIN Lightened crank pulley
PERRIN up-pipe
My NEXT next mod---
UTEC - egt guage
