Hey guys
I just had a Turboxs up-pipe installed at SpeedSport Technik in Norwalk CT. I have heard good reviews about the shop but after about 500 miles after thier install, i started to hear a screetch when the turbo spooled under high boost. I havent localed the problem nor do i know what the problem is. From reading from this forum i think i have an exaust leak from my newly installed up-pipe. This is probably due to the 20k plus miles i have on the gaskets, which i was told would be okay to use......So now im back up at school in Maine and i do not have a tuning shop in a 200 mile radius. Is it possible that a subaru dealership will install the new gaskets or do i have to make a hike to a tuner? Can someone give me some advise?? It would be greatly appreciated.....THanks guys.

The dealership will most likely not install new gaskets on a car which is breaking federal and probabaly state laws.
Go buy the bottom gasket and try it yourself at first. The easiest spot to work on the uppipe is the bottom flange. Replace that one and see if it helps. The flange at the turbo is a bit more work, os the bottom change doesn't fix it you might want to get some help if your new to all this wrenching stuff.
Look on I-Club or that other board to see if someone local can give you a hand.

why go to a subaru daelership? go to any reputable mechanic, and see what they have to say. It's not difficult to do, plus they probably will want the business from you anyway.
If that does not work, time to invest in some nice tools and a floor jack. . . .

Don't even bother with a dealership. It's definatly an uppipe leak and it's propably from the upper flange. The same thing happend to me when I was in a hurry to put my car back together. I'm not going to discourage you from buying new gaskets, but the leak was more than likely caused because the shop did not break your turbo loose. It takes time but do it your self. Remove your downpipe's upper flange and pull it back, loosen the uppipe bolts on the upper and lower flanges. Your turbo is mounted on a floating bracket so loosen that enough that you can eaisily move your turbo. Tighten the uppers first then the lower, and put it all back together. I know from expirence that you don't want to live with that sound for another second.
