turbo timers - are they needed?
another question:
so turbo timers help cool down the turbine after a hard drive...so if I'm too lazy to idle the car a few minutes afterward, should I be getting this device? will it increase it's lifetime/performance?
if yes, what brand is recommended?
thanks

According to Subaru you don't need one with their design.

on the 5th page, subject "WRX cool down procedure"
I'm guessing one wouldn't hurt but not a nessesity.

even tho they say we dont need it, i guess it just gives me peace of mind. plus the one i got has a boost gauge built in, which i was going to buy separately for like 200 bucks, but this TT (blitz) was only 150 and had the boost gauge built in.
for me, it wasnt so much getting the timer as getting the combo of timer/gauge that otherwise would have cost me like 250+.

No! You do not need one of the biggest $$$ rip offs for you car!
It's a water-cooled turbo, after the engine shuts down the heat in the engine keeps a small flow of coolant circulating through the lines by convection! If you’re worried about it, run synthetic oil, that stuff will not coke up while sitting on the hot turbo bearing. That’s the other reason you don’t need a turbo timer; it’s a sleeve type turbo bearing, not a roller bearing.
