Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Has anyone else lost that feeling of pull that you got when you first bought the car? Is it possible that I'm just used to it at this point? I can feel it pull if I'm ever in the passenger's seat (I let my friend drive once!) but when I drive the car is fast on the speedo but I don't like... uh... feel it. LOL sorry I can't really describe it any better than that

Yeah, I wondered about it and eventually just wrote it off to the engine settling in &/or me getting used to the car. The boost is definately still there just doesn't feel as pronounced as it did at first. (Can't speak as a passenger cos nobody else drives my preciousssss)

i'm not able to describe the noise exactly, but i get a wierd noise when i give it a good amount of throttle before the car is fully warmed up, once the car is warmed up, it doesn't do it anymore. but if i let it set idle and let it cool down a bit, it will do it again until it's warmed up again.

Ditto - I would describe it as a blade tip rubbing on something - hold the flat side of a piece of card to the tip of a fast-spinning fan blade. Wasn't there to begin with, seems to happen only when the engine is running cool... turbo blades maybe? No mods here.

I was advised in another thread to get the engine up to temp before using the turbo - parts expand when hot, contract when cold. Seems like sound advice.

I've also noticed my car being rather finicky about the gas I run in it. If I get 76 or Shell, the car runs great, if I get ARCO or some other cheap-o gas, it's sluggish and gets bad mileage.

"Has anyone else lost that feeling of pull that you got when you first bought the car? " - I felt that way too, but while my car was in the body shop, I borrowed a tacoma pickup with a 2 liter and later a nissan altima... Once I got my rex back, It didn't feel like it lost that feeling of pull If anyone feels like their car is slowing down, borrow someone's slug for a few days, that'll cure all your problems.

p.s. on the original topic here, that sound is the wastegate... my car has cat back exhaust and short ram intake. I now hear all sorts of wonderful wastegate, bov, compressor wheel sounds.

the wastegate flutter is so loud, i'm beginning to think either it's the silencer is gone that didn't silence the flutter sound
or wastegate is having problemsi should stick the silencer back on and see how it sounds, u guys with the flutters out there, do u have the silencer box still in the well?
